Are you a Gloucestershire-based disabled artist interested in developing your skills as a drama workshop facilitator and disability awareness and access consultant? 

Do you want paid time to learn and develop your skills in delivering theatre and drama-based workshops across a range of community settings?

Are you interested in using your drama facilitator skills to work as a disability awareness and access consultant?

About the Facilitator’s Training Programme

TwoCan has received funding from The Barnwood Trust to offer this 6-month training programme

AND

we are looking for four disabled artists through an application and interview process.

 

What You’ll Receive: 

A programme that runs from May 2026 – November 2026 

Six days paid to attend one training session per month (total £900 plus travel expenses) + £75 for an evaluation session

Training sessions focused on how to approach workshop facilitating, creating a space to work and co-create, working with young people, how to make your workshop playful and accessible 

You will be encouraged to deliver a workshop for one of TwoCan’s Academy programmes

Disability awareness and access training with Nickie Miles-Wildin, our Artistic Director, which will focus on models of disability and how this can be facilitated using drama techniques. 

Mentoring sessions with both Nickie and Louise – Artistic Director and Executive Producer at TwoCan

An access budget to cover your access costs (access worker, note taker etc) 

Travel expenses covered where appropriate

 

Who Can Apply? 

We welcome applications from anyone who: 

Identifies as disabled. By disabled person we include anyone who identifies as disabled, Deaf, neurodivergent, learning disabled, living with a long-term health condition, mental health conditions, chronic illness, energy limiting impairments and more. We understand that you may use different terminology and you do not have to prefer the term disabled artist to apply. 

Is based in Gloucestershire (lives full time in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewksbury, Forest of Dean, Stroud or Cotswold District) and is eligible to work in England.  

Is passionate about theatre and how it can be used as a tool for social change.

Is not in full time education

Application Questions

  1. Tell us about yourself and why you would like to take part in this programme. (No more than 500 words or longer than 3 minutes)
  2. If you had to create a drama workshop based on the theme of connection, what games or activities might you include? (No more than 500 words or longer than 3 minutes) We are asking this question to gain an understanding of your practice. There is no right or wrong answer. You do not have to send a plan outline. You can send a list of games/activities you might play and outline why.

Shortlisted applicants selected for interview will be notified on Thursday, 16th April 2026

Interviews: Friday 24th April, online. Access provided will include British Sign Language interpreters and captioning via Zoom.
