Our skills development night is designed to support young people aged between 15 and 25 through creative and specialist skills workshops.

Sessions run throughout the year in five-week blocks and include a range of activities to improve access to professional training and support, helping build confidence and skills, and enabling young people to flourish.

The skills development sessions run for five weeks at a time, on Tuesdays between 6pm-8pm. For £35, the sessions offer opportunities for individuals to feel inspired, develop their skills and work with professionals to explore pathways to employment and further education.

Previous skills development sessions have included:

  • Ballroom dancing
  • Creative writing
  • Visual arts
  • Singing
  • Mindfulness
  • Studio production -making a podcast

The next set of skills development will start on Tuesday 14th January and be exploring design. The programme will include Fashion/costume and theatre/film design looking at all the visual elements on stage in a performance, including the set, the props, the costumes,  sound, and the lights. You will have a chance to explore the differences between creating pieces for actors and actresses to wear in productions such as plays, television shows, and movies, against creating garments for the general public. You will have the opportunity to put an outfit together for a fashion show and model it if you wish. You will also work with a theatre designer to create your own show box set design for your chosen production.

Skills development term dates Sept 24- Oct 24
