Journey 2 Independence supports young people aged 16 and over.

From September 2025, Journey to Independence will be available to support young people 16 years and over,  three days a week. Young people can join TwoCan facilitators to creatively and effectively investigate bespoke ways to build and develop life skills.

The programme explores five areas of independence, and each day has a different focus:

Monday, 10.30 am – 4 pm, Work and recreational opportunities.

A chance to creatively develop your skills in Childcare, Catering, Gardening, Animal care, Arts Venue Management

Tuesday, 10.30 am – 4 pm, Relationships, identity and collaborations.

Specific time to explore your sense of self and relationships with others. This is done creatively through role play, art-based activities, discussion and social activities.

Wednesday, 10.30 am – 4 pm – Enterprise and connections.

An opportunity to be involved in professional creative enterprise projects. All-day session: A film project creating a solo chef’s cookbook. Afternoon Session only: Creating handcrafted products for community fairs

Wednesday, 1 pm – 4 pm, Enterprise and connections. (We also offer a half day for those who would like to  make connections and be part of an enterprise, but a full day may not be suitable.)

Basic provision £20 for half a day / £35 for a full day

A meal can be provided for £5 a day

Personal care / Additional Support packages are individually assessed.

Please note that a minimum of 5 weeks must be paid in advance to secure your space.

As part of the connections group that is exploring developing their social opportunities, the Wednesday group is arranging a Social trip for all Journey to Independence participants to the Exmouth Quiz night, Cheltenham, Sunday 2nd November, 7 pm.
