TwoCan’s Youth Theatre meet on Monday evenings from 6pm-7.30pm at The Garden Suite, Performing Arts Department, University of Gloucestershire Oxstalls Lane, Gloucester GL2 9HW. The youth theatre is open to all young people aged from 11-19 years old with or without a disability. The ten-week term is subsidised by the University of Gloucestershire and costs £30.
Each session encourages confidence building and the development of aspirations to engage with the arts. The group plans and creates their own work and finds public platforms to showcase what they have produced.
In the past the group have worked with a deaf performance artist and performed a signed song at the Gloucester Tree of Light event, they have written their own mystery and worked with a Bollywood dancer and magician to support some of the elements of interest. In May 2017 the group performed their own adaptation of A Midsummer Nights Dream at the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts and as part of their research went to the National Star College and worked with an Ariel artist to help them think about flying!
This summer TwoCan will also provide a summer school, working together with support from Active Impact and The University of Gloucestershire. Young people will meet every day for a week and create their own performance which they showcase for friends and family between 28th August – 1st September.
We welcome any new members who would like to get involved. If you think you may be interested please contact Louise Partridge on 07941218520 or email email@example.com for further details.
